Day 1: Kigali
Arrival in Kigali – welcome by your tour guide – check-in at hotel afterwards go for Kigali city tour.
Day 2:
Ntarama and Nyamata Genocide Memorial and transfer to Akagera National Park:
Transfer to Ntarama and Nyamata – visit the genocide memorial – transfer to Akagera National Park – boat ride on Lake Ihema: Overnight at
Akagera Game Lodge)
Day 3: Akagera National Park
Game drives + Pastoralist heritage experience.
Overnight at recommended hotel in Kigali.
Day 4: Nyanza and Butare
Transfer to Butare – visit the Cathedral of Kabgayi and other many historical sites on route – visit the ancient King’s palace at Nyanza and National Museum. Optional visit to the women drumming group. Overnight at a recommended hotel in the area.
Day 5: Nyungwe National Park
Nyungwe National Park – Chimp trekking in the morning and visit tea plantation – afternoon – Optional: Visit the market. Overnight at a
Recommended hotel.
Day 6: Kibuye and Lake Kivu
Transfer to Kibuye – on route; – visit Bisesero genocide memorial.
Kibuye church and Nyange school genocide memorial – boat tour to Amahoro Island, the Island of Peace. Overnight at a recommended hotel in
Kibuye.
Day 7: Gisenyi and Lake Kivu
Transfer to Gisenyi – visit the fishing village, hot springs, visit DRC-Rwanda border (Gisenyi town) and relax at the lake side in the evening. Overnight at recommended hotel on the shores of the Lake Kivu.
Day 8: RUHENGERI – PNV:
Transfer to Kinigi – Gorilla trekking in the morning -experience traditional dancers and learn about Rwandan drumming, singing and dancing in the afternoon. Perhaps visit the twin lakes if time
allows; Optional overnight stay in a family home (or comfortable night at recommended hotel)
Day 9: Cooking & Beer Production Lessons
Learn about Rwanda’s tradition of cooking in a local family, visit street kid project, women Cooperatives producing handicrafts out of banana fiber and acquire lessons in sorghum and banana beer production. Transfer to Kigali and overnight at a recommended hotel.
